Looking in from the outside
I have lived in Christian culture for 25 years now. My wife and I have been members of the same church during that time, we were part of an ecumenical christian community, I worked for a ministry for 5 years and hung out with pastors and stuff.
I also have spent the past 30+ years working in the Restaurant industry. Restaurants draw a certain type of individual, who often are quite different then the folk in church. During the past 5 years I am co-managing a catering company for a well known restaurant.
Recently someone from work sent an email from their church to everyone in the company where a server from our restaurant is giving his testimony on a podcast video. For the first time in a long time I looked at us from the outside. It looks like what we are offering the world is basically unappealing and sadly intangible. Several of my coworkers were offended by the video, (I’ll talk about offense in a later post).
So what is it we are offering or hoping to achieve? More butts in seats? Larger offering? Converts to a being that hates sin and therefore demands obedience? Are we really sharing the love of God in our pitches?
From the outside looking in I think not.
I read blogs, most of them contain christian arguments, who’s right what is wrong. We are known by what we hate.

what did you do with all your old posts? i hope you saved them. i am in the process of deleting my old blog but am saving everything. anyway, hi.
Hi Sparkster,
Yes I saved the old posts. I took everything down to regroup. Hi back!
